National Library to Support City Library Abuja

The National Library of Nigeria is to continue extending professional support to other libraries in the country, in order to enhance standard service delivery to members of the public. The National Librarian stated this when the Head of the FCT City Library, Mr. Lawrence Akumuo paid her a courtesy visit on Thursday 21st October, 2021 to congratulate her on her appointment as the National Librarian/Chief Executive of the apex library of the nation. Prof. Anunobi who pledged that the National Library will support the City Library in to upgrade its services, lamented the ineffectiveness of e- library services in most libraries across the Country which limits access to information resources that available. She noted that it’s a mandate of the National Library of Nigeria to promote reading culture, she added that with the support of her Staff and other stakeholders the library services in the Country would be upgraded to meet the demands of the populace. Earlier in his presentation, the Head of Federal Capital Territory City Library Mr. Lawrence Akomuo, who was accompanied by Mrs. Safiya Kaita and Mrs. Zainab Abdulmalik, stated that they were at the National Library to felicitate with Prof. Anunobi on her appointment as Nigeria’s National Librarian and also explore areas of possible collaboration towards quality service delivery.
