HAPPY INTERNATIONAL BOOK AND COPYRIGHT DAY
The National Library of Nigeria under the leadership of the National Librarian/C.E.O Professor Chinwe Veronica Anunobi join the world to celebrate all lovers of books, Librarians, Authors and artists who produce books, magazines, movies, and music. It's a chance to honour those who invest countless hours to bring quality intellectual content to humanity. The opportunity to raise awareness on the value of copyright protection (i.e., the right to be acknowledged as the creator and owner of a work as well as the ability to profit from it) is just as significant.
International Book and Copyright Day is the perfect time to show your appreciation for authors.
Visit your local library and check out some new books that you’ve been meaning to read. Give a shout-out to one of your favourite authors on social media (and in your community) and let them know how much you appreciate their work.
Buy the book (print or electronic) of the latest novel from a writer you admire.
If you’re an author yourself, use this day as a time to celebrate the progress that you’ve made so far in your artistic journey.
Recognize all of the hard work and dedication that you’ve put into your craft. Celebrate your progress and inspire yourself to continue to create wonderful works.
Finally, take some time to learn more about copyright. Understand the laws that protect intellectual property and the rights of creators. Educate yourself and the people around you so that everyone is aware of t
he rights that authors have and the importance of respecting them.
International Book and Copyright Day is a great opportunity to celebrate the writers and creators of intellectual content that bring us such wonderful works of art and to spread the message of copyright protection. So make sure to show your appreciation and spread the word!
