The Chief Executive Officer of the National Library of Nigeria, Prof. Chinwe Anunobi has stated that a good library is the fulcrum of quality education. Prof. Anunobi stated this when she played host to the Provost of the Nigerian Army College of Education (NACOE) Sobi Cantonment Ilorin, Kwara state, Major General SS Ibrahim at the corporate headquarters of the National Library Abuja.
Welcoming her guest, the National Librarian/CEO appreciated the Provost for the impact the Nigerian Army is making in the education sector. She stressed that library is the fulcrum, when you talk of qualitative education. She further informed her guests that the National Library is not just like any other library but in addition to providing normal library services, is also the nation’s bibliographic center, providing bibliographic checks.
The National Library, according to Prof. Anunobi, acquires information resources, process and provide them to end users both manually and electronically. She acknowledged the good vision of the Nigerian Army while pledging to render any possible assistance towards the educational development of the Nigerian Army.
Earlier, the Provost of NACOE, Major General SS Ibrahim said they had come to share in the success story of the National Librarian. The Library according to him, is the most important part of any institution The Provost informed his host that the NACOE as one of the three major tertiary institutions of the Nigerian Army provides a platform where officers could develop academically. Whereas the Nigerian Army Education Corp is saddled with the responsibility to provide library services across the Nigerian Army institutions all over the country.
The Provost further requested the NLN to come to the aid of the institution by donating books which will be of immense help to their officers who are conducting one research or the other.
