THE INTERVENTION PROGRAMMES
The National Library of Nigeria in her
determination to walk the talk to make the readership campaign promotion an
all-year-round exercise, will kick-start intervention activities aimed at positive
engagement of the young ones for academic excellence. The Library will leverage
technology to make the readership promotion campaign have a wider reach and be
more participatory.
The programme, “Celebrating
the Evergreen Pen” apart from its principal objective, which is to promote
the reading culture among Nigerians, will focus on the need to highlight the
contribution of the main messages in the work to: development of critical
thinking capacity among the young ones, provoking innovative ideas, promoting
national cohesion, and engendering national development.
The strategy will involve the yearly
listing of the names of authors selected for the monthly programme “Celebrating
the Evergreen Pen” and whose birthdays fall within the period. A read-only
and non-downloadable copy of the author's work being celebrated will be
serialized for the public to create access to the material of choice for the
month’s book review and discussion programmes. There must be evidence of
compliance with the legal deposit provision by an author to be so honoured. On
our list for 2024/2025 edition are:
