Nigeria's cultural heritage is a mosaic of diverse traditions, languages, artifacts, and oral histories that reflect the country's rich and multifaceted identity. With over 250 ethnic groups and centuries of history, the preservation of this heritage is vital for sustaining national identity and fostering global recognition. However, as physical archives face degradation and accessibility challenges, the need for digital preservation frameworks has become urgent. Digital technologies offer unprecedented opportunities to document, safeguard, and disseminate cultural heritage, ensuring its transmission to future generations. This transformative potential places digital preservation at the center of national and international efforts to safeguard Nigeria’s invaluable cultural assets for posterity.

Cultural heritage serves as a repository of collective memory, shaping societal values, and fostering community cohesion. Nigeria's heritage includes ancient manuscripts, traditional textiles, sculptures, and oral traditions, such as folktales and proverbs. Each artifact and tradition embodies unique historical narratives that contribute to the nation’s identity and knowledge base. Beyond national significance, preserving this heritage has global implications, as it enriches the world's understanding of African history and culture.
