The significance of the National Library of Nigeria’s 60th Anniversary Road Walk drawing parallels between the physical act of endurance and the library’s six decades of overcoming challenges, adapting to change and serving as the Nation’s intellectual memory. The road walk was more than a mare physical event. It was a symbolic journey that united library staff, stakeholders and the public in a shared commitment to the ideals of knowledge and literacy just as individuals in a road walk support one another through collaboration with the government, educational institution and knowledge seekers.

The decision to start the walk from Sanusi Dantata house (The temporary Headquarters) Office and conclude at the permanent site still under construction was intentional. It mirrored the National Library of Nigeria’s evolution from a modest beginning to a future of expansion and modernization.
