The three-day workshop organized by the African Library and Information Associations and Institutions (AFLIA) came to a close on April 10, 2025, with a strong call for professionalism, commitment, and lifelong learning in librarianship.
Delivering the closing remarks, the National Librarian and Chief Executive Officer of the National Library of Nigeria, Professor Chinwe Veronica Anunobi, congratulated participants on successfully completing the training. She expressed her delight at their commitment to personal and professional growth, stating that her own journey had been shaped by a combination of knowledge, skills, competence, and personal sacrifice.
Professor Anunobi urged participants to prioritize knowledge over financial gain in their career pursuits. "Never put money first; put your knowledge and skills first. Your future is in your hands," she emphasized. Also speaking at the event, Ms. Glory Okeagu, Deputy Director (CDTS), expressed appreciation to Professor - Anunobi and AFLIA for facilitating the impactful training.
She noted that the participants had gained valuable insights and promised to apply the knowledge to enhance the work of the National Library of Nigeria.Ms. Okeagu encouraged participants to take initiative in their careers, embrace continuous learning, and seek opportunities to develop new skills. In her remarks, Dr. Nkem Osuigwe, Director of Human Capacity Development and Training for AFLIA urged participants to make strategic use of social media to showcase their capabilities and expand their professional visibility.
She challenged them to aim higher and reminded them that librarianship extends beyond the National Library of Nigeria. The workshop concluded with the presentation of certificates to participants by Professor Anunobi, while Mr. Dio Orvell, Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations, delivered the vote of thanks
