The Akwa Ibom State Branch of the National Library of Nigeria celebrated the first anniversary of its establishment on the 1st November, 2021. The branch which commenced activities on 1st November 2020, was established in compliance with the Organization’s enabling Act, which makes it mandatory for the establishment of its branch in every state of the federation upon the state’s fulfilment of their requisite obligations. The branch has brought closer to the people of the state, the services of National Library of Nigeria. Speaking during a brief ceremony to mark the anniversary, the pioneer Head of Branch, Mrs. Helen Ebi acknowledged the Governor of Akwa Ibom, His Excellency Udom Emmanuel for ensuring the fulfillment of the state’s obligations, by providing a temporary office accommodation at State Library Board premises and equally allocating a site for building of the prototype permanent structure in the State. Mrs. Ebi further stated that the high level of patronage of the new branch indicates that it was a wise decision to have established the branch.
