Association of Women Librarians in Nigeria (AWLIN) Exco Members had on Tuesday 18th January, 2022 paid a courtesy call to the National Librarian in her office, to felicitate with her on her appointment as Nigeria’s National Librarian. The Chairperson of the Association, Mrs Ruth Bature, a former Director Public Services Department in her remarks, stated that the main reason for their visit was to congratulate Prof. Anunobi on her appointment as the National Librarian/ Chief Executive Officer, National library of Nigeria. According to her, with the appointment of Prof. Anunobi, the National Library will continue to progress in its mission of delivering quality services to the public. They wished her well and prayed she succeeds throughout her tenure, and volunteering that members of the Association are readily available to provided professional support whenever the need arises.
Responding, Prof. Anunobi expressed joy and excitement on their visit. She also pledged her support to the Association and promised to identify with the women fully. Prof. Anunobi charged the women not to relent in their effort to lend their voices to the practice of the profession and encouraged them to continue to struggle to compete with other Professions.
