Our Heads of Branches from the 33 State branches went through a rigorous 5days Capacity Development Training at Centre for Advanced Library Management (CALIM), Enugu.
The theme of the training "Actualisation of the Eight Point Agenda of the National Librarian through Strategic Services of the State Branches" follows Prof C. V. Anunobi's led Management's new approach on Repositioning the Apex Library to be at per with other leading National libraries in efficient service delivery in line with modern trends and global best practices.
Upon assuming office as the National Librarian in September 2021, Prof Anunobi rolled out her 8points Agenda and hit the ground running in implementing them. These agendas are:
1. Digitization and Development of National Repository of Nigeria (NRN);
2. Virtual Library Services Development;
3. Automation of Library Operations and Services;
4. Enhancing the Branch Libraries Environment;
5. Providing Library Services to the "Hard to Reach";
6. Enhance Literacy Sensitization and Encourage Documentation of Family Heritage in Indigenous Languages;
7. Expansion and Strengthening of the National Library Archives;
8. Collaborating with Schools to Ensure Establishment and Management of Libraries for the Promotion of Reading.
The capacity building which featured brainstorming sessions, ideas generation and presentations by all Heads of Departments and Branches.
