National Library Resumes Work on Cross-River Branch Building

The National Librarian/Chief Executive Officer of the National Library of Nigeria, Prof. Chinwe Veronica Anunobi, on Thursday 9th December, 2021 inspected and officially handed over the site of the Cross Rivers State branch of the Library to the new contractor, Vahbal Concept LTD and a Consultant, Sterling Design & Associates. The duo will take the prototype building project to a completion level. The development of the project which started in 2010 with the previous contractor was terminated in 2020 due to lack of diligent execution of the project. It was later reactivated, advertised and finally awarded to a new contractor Vahbal Concept LTD for the completion of the project. 

Speaking during the ceremony, Prof. Anunobi charged the Contractor to keep to the stipulated time of completion as enshrined in the terms of the contract. The consultant was also tasked to ensure the contraction is done with quality materials and meets specifications so as to justify the public funds the government is investing in.

Responding on behalf of the Consultant, Engr. Bem Adzaagee gave assurance that the project would be completed in top quality form and be delivered to National Library of Nigeria within the agreed period of time. Present at the handing over ceremony were the Deputy Director, Physical Planning, Mr. Wilson Odumbaku, alongside Peter Uchegwu, Mende B.A, Idah Benard, Arc. OJ Ayatse, HoB C/S,Mr Nkereuwem Etuk, and the Contractor Mr Victor Ama, and the Consultant Engineer Bem Adzaagee.
